Ever since time first began,
Light traveled as fast as it can;
Al’s theories still thrive
(Except for warp drive)
‘Cause he’s fucking Einstein, man!
It sure is a clean machine
For particles to careen,
But putting that drive
Into how to survive
Would make me feel much more serene.
What is important to know?
Where should our best thinking go?
Not so much something new,
Rather, what’s best to do
While we’re slipping down off the plateau.
Technology isn’t a way
We can end up saving the day,
But it seems beyond doubt
That there is no way out,
So whatever, I guess it’s O.K.
