Doom and the Consensus Trance
Now our consensus trance shatters:
Convictions once held drop in tatters;
Belief schemes we drafted
And through our lives crafted
Leave little remaining that matters.
Alarmist?
The powers that be won’t admit
We’re heading straight to our obit;
So it isn’t strange we
Can already see
People are losing their shit.
What is its cause at the root?
Whom might we persecute?
From an objective view,
It’s logically true
The reason is just overshoot.
Beat the Rush: Collectibles
Don’t wait till more see what’s ahead:
Monetize stuff now instead;
Once the end’s seen as final,
All the Beatles on vinyl
Won’t trade for a half loaf of bread.
Bread and Circuses
Ancient Romans will echo ahead
About keeping their commoners fed:
It won’t matter, you know,
How much circus they show
If they cannot provide enough bread.
It Ain’t Me Babe
When non-doomers ask me for take-aways,
I think up assorted delays:
Like “I’m not the one
To spoil all your fun
And ruin your remaining last days.”
I Told You So
When deniers get doomers at last,
They’re not going to like being sassed;
They’ll be angry (Stage 2),
And so if you do,
You might want to get out of range fast.
Law
We were unfettered brutes way back when—
Civilization came along then;
Now we see through those jokes,
And I’m telling you folks,
It’s the Law of the Jungle again.
