In Praise of Sleep

Relief from my worries comes when

I escape into sleep in my den;

One fly in the ointment:

The great disappointment

That comes if I wake up again. 

Date with Destiny

No surprise, as the end of life nears,   

How much shittier each day appears;

Because, as we know,

There’s still far to go

For extinction in just a few years.
