Intraspecies Inequality: A Separate Issue

Pissed off at extinction’s plight
But still want to fight for what’s “right”?
Since what’s at the root
Is overshoot,
Whom does it make sense to fight?

The Track That Ends In Midair

Most still remain unaware,
But a few have begun to prepare
For our last coaster ride
Which has started its slide
On the track that ends in midair.

Some analyze how they got there
But one by one all start to stare
As soon as they’ve eyed
The end of the glide
Where the track simply stops in midair.

Helplessness turns to despair:
Apparently, life isn’t fair;
Doom, once denied,
Cannot be defied
When we’re flying off into midair.

Accepting NTE and Cognitive Dissonance, or “Doomers Lie In Order To...”

I used to be really a mess
‘Cause all the of time I’d obsess
About doom’s potpourri,
So I searched for the key
To make cognitive dissonance less.

The word’s out, no one can suppress
What soon will be widespread, I guess;
The changes we see
Toward NTE
Make cognitive dissonance less.

I figured out how to address
Doom and diminish my stress:
If you disagree,
That’s O.K. with me—
I’ve made cognitive dissonance less.

I’m pleased with my little success:
I could keep ranting, but I digress;
As a doom devotee,
I’m much more stress-free
With cognitive dissonance less.

NTE, Stage One: A Case Example

Everything seemed to be fine:
They were watching a quiet decline,
But with NTE,
People didn’t agree,
And all hell broke out online.

One viewpoint from which to opine:
It’s a Kubler-Ross anger stage sign;
Look now, and foresee:
Widespread, it will be
Nowhere near as benign.

It’s a Cookbook!

Bone up for our next human stage:
You’ll find on each “To Serve Man” page,
From well-done to rare,
Different ways to prepare
For the “Anthropophagocene Age.”

Near Term Extinction and Hierarchy

Social animals tend to pursue
First rights to eat and to screw,
Vie for status with which
They’re fit to enrich
Themselves from raised rank in the queue.

But despite NTE’s debut,
We won’t evolve anything new;
During doom’s little glitch,
We’ll make no last-ditch switch:
The time left for changing is through.

The rich life is but for the few,
And it doesn’t include me or you;
Now we’ll never get rich
Or upgrade our niche,
The way we once hoped to do.

But when everything goes all askew,
Some people won’t only feel blue,
Or just simply bitch;
They’ll add some twisted itch
To the horror about to ensue.

We Shall Be Released

They say we’re no smarter than yeast,
They say we’ll all soon be deceased;
But we’ll find, in the rubble,
The end of the trouble:
Any day now, we shall be released.

Going Fuku

“The US and Japan are trying to raise acceptable radiation exposure limits. "If you can't decrease the water level, you elevate the bridge," says pediatrician and author Dr. Helen Caldicott.”
http://fairewinds.com/content/cant-win-change-rules

If raised limits are making you cuckoo
To the point you consider seppuku,
Think how much will explode
And still be up to code
When the grid’s down and everything’s Fuku.

Why Can’t We Adapt?

Guy McPherson is interviewed by Ted Simons on Arizona Horizon on Thursday, 2 May 2013:  http://guymcpherson.com/2013/05/show-time/
Five minutes in, the interviewer asks:

Why Can’t We Adapt?

With food gone, fresh water all tapped,
Hope and stamina finally sapped,
Heat which increases
And nuclear pieces—
There’s no way that we can adapt.

White House warned on imminent Arctic ice death spiral

Dear Landlord

You think you’ll be one of the few
In some faraway hideout HQ;
Despite your conniving,
No one’s surviving:
You’re going to be fucked too.

Extra—News of the Day: May 2, 2013

May Day Protests

There were protests the first day of May:
Pics of violence coming your way;
In related news
(No one ever saw clues),
Poor get poor, rich get rich—every day!
==

Busted

Golden, that’s how she was viewed:
She would never do anything crude,
But she failed to respond;
She was legally blonde,
But now her career is screwed.
==

European Interest Rates Lowered

Inflation’s what we should abhor:
Weimar’s curious forgotten lore;
Ironically funny—
We’ve more and more money,
But nothing’s worth shit anymore.

Europe and the United States
Soon will set negative rates:
As things go downhill,
All worth becomes nil,
But keep inking those printing plates.
==

OTOH

My thoughts about her never cease,
She looked good in satin or fleece;
I DO know her name:
She’s my secret flame—
Can’t wait for her next “release.”
==

Cannibals in Jamestown

With supplies right down to the dregs,
They revised their rules and their regs:
Eating out didn’t mean
A time-limited scene
In between one another’s legs.
==

That’s Life

Her mask slipped, but still, here’s what’s key:
Post-divorce, for a while, she was free;
Though odds of us linked
Match not going extinct,
She should have been marrying me.
==

Late-Breaking

So there’s all the news, now you’ve heard
(Though some of it’s purposely blurred);
Oh yeah: well fuck me!
Right there on TV,
Someone mentioned a dirty word.
